Lasers (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) are an integral part of treatment of numerous eye ailments, and several types of lasers are used. At PNRF we have several lasers for a variety of treatments.
Lasers can be used for prevention in the form of laser iridotomy (a small hole in the iris) for glaucoma or before insertion of ICL. This is to provide an alternative route for movement of fluid in the anterior chamber, thus preventing glaucoma in the future. In high Myopes and other degenerative conditions of the retina, Prophylactic Laser Photocoagulation of the Retina is done in the peripheral retina to prevent retinal detachments which may be anticipated in the future.
